Fitting because we are big lavender people. My girls get dabbed with it every night before bed.

I pulled out the birthday sweater I started for Lily after 3 days of knitting it. It's Malabrigo worsted in Brilliante. Beautiful! Not much  progress on that this week but I'm now working on a simple shrug for Tory and reading a book on whole foods. No novels for me! I also have to show my new lavender yarn bowl! I love it! Chaucy at Chaucy.com made it. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Colorado Reniassance Festival and her work is so very beautiful. I think a lot of her best work isn't featured on her site but she is a true artist!

Our Botany Lesson For Today.

Lily and Tory were so excited with the tropical plants that Daddy and I almost couldn't keep up!

An enormous Palm. At least to me because I live in Colorado.

The girls were very enamored with the koi fish and the many little ponds and waterfalls. Lily really wanted to swim with those fish.

Maybe a type of bromeliad? Does anyone know?

Daddy loved the cacti. It's amazing to see so many kinds all together.

I loved standing next to this huge rosemary plant. It smelled so nice.

I think this was called an antler fern. I like it. Have you been enjoying some plant life this week? Tomorrow were going back to look at the children's garden. We are so excited!

A Day To Remember!

This weekend has been fantastic! It was the first time John and I have been on a date and had an entire 24 hrs. to ourselves without our children to just be "us" in about 3 years! We decided to go to the Colorado Renaissance Festival. We had the best time just looking around at all the beautiful handcrafted wares. I'm slowly becoming a big fan of pottery and picked up a few pieces. A few tiny cups and a new knitting bowl which I'll blog about later. Here are just a few photos of our day. Hope your weekend was as wonderful!

What's Hanging On My Wall?

The Green Man.

Today I decided to post about our home. I love art and I love color. There is a lot of that here. I cannot live without it.  Johnathan gave this to me for Valentine's Day. I had wanted it for quite a while. He is so thoughtful. I can't imagine where I'd be without him!

I made this magnetic spice rack from an old cookie sheet and recycled baby food jars. When Lily was little, I bought just enough to reuse them and then made our own baby food. Home made was better for sure! The only thing I had to purchase for this project was magnets. It does it's job. Just make sure if you do this that you use jars that close well. Steam from food as well as the hood light can ruin your spices. But ours never last too long around here.

This is our cleaning corner. We put the supplies low enough for little hands to reach. After all, littles love to help with the work! Especially when the tools are their size.

I really love displaying my children's artwork. Nothing makes me happier than to see how it makes them feel to know their work is valued. I think it gives them a sense of pride. (The good kind of pride). We rotate it through the seasons to keep it fresh. 

This is in Lil's room. She keeps her dishes and kitchen stuff in there.

I made this growth chart. It was one of those experimental things. 

The children made these for the windows at Christmas but when it came time for them to go they asked if they could put them on their walls.

Lil' is always asking to hold this angel. She sings to her and kisses her softly.

I did Tortise's room in Flower Fairies. I'd take more pictures but I'm afraid I'll break a leg or something and never make it back out alive (:

(sigh) Eventually I will be able to get playsilks. For now we use cloth instead.

Tortise did this one in school last year. I love it. And it looks quite good in the kitchen! What's hanging on your wall?
